Silver member is one of the largest lighting fixture manufacturers in North America

Atlanta, Ga. – Jan. 16, 2018 – The BACnet community is happy to announce that Hubbell Lighting has joined the BACnet International association. As one of the largest lighting fixture manufacturers in North America, Hubbell Lighting features a suite of brands that provides a full range of indoor and outdoor lighting products serving the commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential markets.

“In the last ten years Building Management System (BMS) integration has evolved to become a driving influence in how commercial lighting systems are installed,” said Scott Ziegenfus, manager, Government and Industry Relations, Hubbell Lighting. “The teams at both Hubbell Lighting and Hubbell Control Solutions are taking a proactive approach to BMS integration by adding BACnet natively into the NX lighting control platform.”

In late 2017, Hubbell Control Solutions announced the expansion of its distributed lighting control platform for commercial and industrial facilities, NX Distributed Intelligence™. The Distributed Network Architecture (“DNA”) of NX eliminates common operational dependencies on software, gateways and servers found in other lighting control systems by distributing control logic to each lighting control device.

Ziegenfus continued, “Our NX Area Controller is classified in BACnet speak as a B-ASC. If the BMS system is connected to the same network that the NX Area Controller is they will be able to talk, simple as that. The BACnet automatic discovery process will conveniently find the NX and ask what it can do. Our customers appreciate this level of simplicity.”

Hubbell Lighting joins more than 125 of the leading building automation vendors and integrators in the world advocating BACnet as a communication protocol.

“Lighting is such an intrinsic part of building automation so we are excited to welcome Hubbell Lighting to the BACnet International community,” said Andy McMillan, president and managing director of BACnet International. “Scott has already contributed as a volunteer on our Education Committee and we look forward to more collaboration with Hubbell going forward.”

About Hubbell Lighting

Hubbell Lighting is elevating the lighting experience. BACnet International oversees operation of the BACnet Testing Labs (BTL) and maintains a global listing of tested products. The BACnet standard was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and has been made publicly available so that manufacturers can create interoperable systems of products. BACnet International complements the work of the ASHRAE standards committee and BACnet-related interest groups around the world. BACnet International members include building owners, consulting engineers and facility managers, as well as companies involved in the design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of control equipment that uses BACnet for communication.

Silver member is one of the largest lighting fixture manufacturers in North America Atlanta, Ga. – Jan. 16, 2018 – The BACnet community is happy to announce that Hubbell Lighting […]
