The theme of this year\u2019s event was \u201cThe Path to Big Data and Building IoT\u201d and was\u00a0organized by the Instrumentation Technology and Economy Institute (ITEI). It was hosted at\u00a0Zhijiang College &#8211;\u00a0Zhejiang University of Technology\u00a0in Shaoxing, China and\u00a0supported by\u00a0BACnet International, BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) and ASHRAE SSPC135.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>BACnet Golden Week followed a similar format to previous events and included a technology educational forum, BACnet training and a BACnet Plugfest interoperability event.&nbsp;&nbsp;Organizations represented included Siemens, Delta Controls, PcVue, Alibaba,&nbsp;Zhijiang College \u2013&nbsp;Zhejiang University of Technology,&nbsp;Yikong, Fudan University, Schneider Electric, Smart IO, Johnson Controls, and many other industry leading organizations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The educational forum was held on the first day of the event and showcased the latest updates to BACnet technology and advanced applications. Highlights include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Andy McMillan, president of BACnet International, presented the benefits of BACnet in Airports as showcased at the BIG-EU Airport Conference, which was held in September at Frankfurt Airport and featured several European airports and their use of the BACnet protocol.<\/li><li>Alibaba executive presented their vision of IoT and its connection to building automation systems.<\/li><li>Bernhard Isler, past chairman of ASHRAE SSPC 135, presented on the status and outlook of BACnet standardization.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the educational forum, BACnet technology training was conducted by Bernhard Isler, who provided participants with a deeper understanding of the future of the BACnet protocol.&nbsp;&nbsp;The training session also gave participants the opportunity to share and discuss their progress, wins and challenges faced implementing BACnet in their products.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training was followed by a BACnet Plugfest event, under the guidance of Mr. Isler, which provided an opportunity for companies to perform interoperability testing for their BACnet-enabled solutions in a vendor neutral environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are very happy to support and participate in BIG-CA\u2019s BACnet Golden Week,\u201d said Andy McMillan.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cThe BIG-CA staff and its volunteers hosted an informational and educational event that brought together members of the interest group as well as government officials and others interested in the further adoption of BACnet.
